Join Joel Tabak, the Technical Director of the Saskatchewan Filmpool, in a demonstration and workshop of one of the most exciting cameras in the Filmpool's Inventory, The ARRI ALEXA Mini. ARRI Cameras are considered industry standard in many circles, and the ARRI ALEXA Mini has been used on such films as Everything, Everywhere All at Once, 1917, and John Wick: Chapter 4, among many others. The workshop will go through the specs and demonstration of the camera, followed by hands-on participation.

Come listen in on a presentation where Matt Ripplinger will share his knowledge and insights about shooting on film, and how this medium can transform and expand beyond the silver screen.  From working on a motion picture as a film loader, to creating expanded cinema pieces, Matt's involvement with celluloid has become expansive. And it all started at the University of Regina.

and what to do when you get there

Hosted by Saskatchewan film industry veterans Jason Bohn and Dan Crozier, this workshop will explore various pathways into the industry and provide practical guidance for emerging crew members looking to start their careers. Attendees can expect useful tips, insights, engaging stories from the film and television world, and an interactive Q&A session.

Dan Crozier was born and raised in Regina and is a graduate of the University of Regina’s Media Production & Studies program (Class of 2003).

For more than 20 years, Dan has honed his craft on sets across Saskatchewan and beyond, earning dozens of credits on feature film, television, and commercial productions alike.

In recent years, he also served as Senior Film Steward for IATSE 295, where he acted as lead negotiator and key liaison between producers and crew. He currently serves as the Director of Workforce and Industry Development for ScreenSask.

Dan’s on-set knowledge and deep connections within the local crew community are matched by his unwavering commitment to the growth and success of the industry.

When he’s not working, Dan likes to spend time at home with his family and write long-winded jokes disguised as rock songs with his band, Cheap Heat.

Join Shawn Stratychuk (Location Scout, Production Assistant – DGC) and Stephanie Proulx (Locations Coordinator, Creative Saskatchewan) for an inside look at the importance of a Locations Department and the role it plays in a successful film production.

Learn how to approach property owners, scout smart, navigate permits, and represent your crew with strong on‑set etiquette.

Plus: a peek at how to film your next project in the John Hopkins Regina Soundstage."

Shawn Stratychuk got his start in the industry as a Location Production Assistant on Die Alone in 2023. He's continued working in the location department on feature film and commercial productions, as well as being one of the primary Location Scouts for Creative Saskatchewan. Now a member of DGC and IATSE 295, Shawn's other professional credits include work as an Assistant Director, Grip, Carpenter, Set Decorator, Electric, Boom Op and Editor

Stephanie (she/her) is the Locations Coordinator at Creative Saskatchewan. She supports film producers by sourcing suitable Saskatchewan locations for their projects, maintains the locations database, and coordinates hosted location scouts. Stephanie also oversees the administration of the John Hopkins Regina Soundstage.
